One for the Road
Many of you know that last summer I worked with an amazing team of cyclists who rode in the world's toughest bike race — the Race Across America or RAAM. This race is not for amateurs. Lucas, Logan, Meghan and Matias rode relay style from California to Maryland as the youngest team to compete and complete. And they raised $80k for childhood cancer research through Ben Towne Foundation too. If you want to get caught up on their daily race recaps, check out the RAAM team Ben Towne Foundation page. Pretty cool.
I certainly harbor no illusions of riding 3,000 miles myself anytime soon, but sadly haven't had my own bike since I was a kid growing up in Holland, Michigan. Working with the bike team got me inspired to think about riding again. And now, as part of Kurt 2.0, it's a perfect time to reequip and rejoin!
Thanks to Jesse and the team at River City Bicycles down the street from me here in SE Portland who hooked me up today with a great Specialized commuter bike. It will make it super easy for me to commute the 3.4 miles to my office at Portland State. Portland is one of the most bike commuter friendly cities in the US, so this should be a breeze.
Time to hit the road.
