What We Do For Love — PGMC's 2019 Gala
Last Saturday the Portland Gay Men's Chorus celebrated the start of its 40th anniversary season by hosting our first ever fundraising gala. Held at Kurt Beadell’s Vibrant Table space in southeast Portland and emceed by Portland’s beloved Tracy Barry, the event honored our humble beginnings in 1980, celebrated our many memorable performances, and raised over $80,000 to support our mission to “expand, redefine, and perfect the choral art through eclectic performances that honor and uplift the gay community and affirm the worth of all people.” We also welcomed our new artistic director, Johnny Atorino, who will be moving to Portland from New York City in January. Many thanks to the amazing volunteers who put it all together, and to all who attended and contributed. It was an impressive and humbling testament to the power of music to move, inspire and activate! Here’s to another 40 years!
